Disclosure: To the victims' families my continued support during this difficult time. There are not enough words to describe the moment when a loved one is no longer here.
Today on June 5, 2022, we celebrate your 29th birthday. I celebrate you as a daughter, sister, lover, community member, and inspiration. You have inspired me in ways I never thought I another human without even meeting in person. Hearing your loved ones speaking about you propelled me to get your stories out to the masses. Though I was hardly on social media at the time, you inspired me to get involved. I know I sound repetitive by saying this but have you ever witnessed something and knew it was wrong and knew if you did not say anything you were just as guilty. After having the conversation with my mother, I reentered social media via Twitter. The first thread started off with you and Kenneth and the love you both had for each other. Seeing you was like seeing any young Black Woman living your best life. You were at the right place, at the right time. Your home is where you should feel the safest.
It was entities that swore to protect and serve that violated that trust. Seeing personnel who were voted into office by the people (AG Daniel Cameron) used his influence to stall and later deny you and David McAtee a fair investigation into seeking justice is now running for the governor's office is "disgusting" to say the least. I would later find similar stories to yours and other Black People regardless of gender, age, and socioeconomic backgrounds, were treated unfairly by the Main Stream Media and even some Black Media Platforms when reporting stories.
One thing remains the same you are not here in the physical form but your spirit and story have inspired the world and myself included to seek JUSTICE no long it may take, no matter the obstacles. Your story is the Genesis and the purpose of how I re-discovered myself. As Beyonce said "Bigger than you Bigger than me Bigger than the picture they framed us to see... Take the pen and re-write it Rise the Spirit is teachin."
Though many have justified your ending, even have gone to lengths to spreading misinformation and disinformation for financial gain and popularity in the process for a narrative that is often associated after victim transitions tarnish their name, raise doubt into why the murder occurred, which causes the general public to shift from the initial issue. In the words of the late Malcolm X- "The media's the most powerful entity on earth. They have the power to make the innocent guilty and the guilty innocent, and that's power. Because they control the mind of the masses."
I promise to always keep your story alive as God continues to breathe life into me. I will continue telling your story and others authentically the "BreeWay." You are America's Daughter and the American Dream, which we hold True, and the Pursuit of Justice.
